4 Mobile Apps Designed to Save Money
With it's cool, sleek, edges and sharp, catchy graphics, the iPhone is certainly a lust of my eyes. Maybe because I see 1 of every 3 cool cell phone users with their mod glasses and super-cool hair dos has one and are whizzing through the interfaces with a quick tap-brush of their posed and ready index finger and it makes them look extra-important. Or at least it does to me.
Oh the iPhone. I declare my love to Thee. And if you thought my fetish for a cold, hard piece of technology was weird enough, only wait: This blog post is on the money-saving apps available on your iPhone.
It's like my loves collide in a beautiful, hand-held device: Frugality and Cutting-edge technology. I think I said that once before about tax return apps, but now I really mean it. This time, the apps are useful on a daily basis and not just once yearly.
Without further adieu, a brief list of some money-saving apps on your friendly iPhone, from a non-iPhone user, but certainly an iPhone idol-er.
Red Laser (iPhone and Android)
This app is for that especially (annoying) frugal person who goes to buy something at some store, only to gripe about the cost and pontificate thoroughly on how they could have gotten it cheaper if they would have just went wherever else. With just a swipe of the item's bar code, Red Laser will tell you if, in fact, the item is available for a better price somewhere else. Genius.
Gasbuddy (iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone)
It's recently come to my attention that I'm weird because I refuse to fill up with gas anywhere but the cheapest place in town. This does, of course, usually have me running on 'E' for at least 90% of my life, because I'm always waiting on finding the lowest price (hence, the weirdness). BUT THIS APP COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING! Based on your location, GasBuddy will tell you where the cheapest gas is in your general area, and voila! We are no longer weird, but rather, frugal and awesome at finding great deals.
Kids Eat Free (iPhone and Android)
This one is my new favorite. Kids Eat Free allows your friends to finally rejoin the social world once they've begun the lovely task of parenting. Because so many new parents are trying to figure out finances along with other exciting new ventures like "how not to get wee-wee'ed on when changing a diaper" with the arrival of kiddos, this app allows them to search for deals like 'kids eat free' or 'kids eat cheaply' so they can tote their little ones along with them when going out to dinner. It's a great money saver AND a great way to keep parents around other adults.
Craigslist Notification (Android)
Craigslist is a phenomenon. And as such, the good things get snatched up on a daily basis. So, how do you, unless you're a creepy, over blog-gy individual who doesn't actually need to 'work' but can peruse the internet for hours on end, manage to get the 'good' items you're looking for on Craig's List? Craig's List Notification. It notifies you of items posted for sale as based on your previous searches.
Basically, there's tons of little ways to save with your iPhone. The device of the future is designed to make your life easier, so why don't you let it by having a few money-saving apps downloaded?
Try them out. Tell us what works and what doesn't.
